Making the difference for families
People ask me why someone my age would start taking Taekwondo family classes.
The answer was simple. I'm crazy. But seriously, I wanted to be a part of my
children's life. I no longer wanted to be a spectator, but an active participant
in their lives. You only get so many years when your kids want you around. Before
you know it, it's "Mom, can you drive me to the mall?", "Mom,
can I borrow some money?", or the dreaded "drop me off here, so my
friends don't see you". I want to enjoy their childhood before I'm officially
relegated to the sidelines.
We started taking the family classes last June, and it has been one of the best
decisions I ever made. With everything going on in the world, not only is this
a distraction, it makes me feel a lot better knowing that my kids and I are
learning to defend ourselves. It has brought us closer and they enjoy seeing
me succeed as well as fall on my butt (literally). When we get a belt promotion,
it's a family celebration.
The Family classes work on the same skills as the regular classes do, but spending
time with your kids is a great added bonus. Knowing that I'm getting a terrific
workout is also great . If fact I've gotten more toned, more flexible, and more
endurance that I ever thought possible. I'm probably in better shape now than
when I was 20. I could have joined a workout gym, but this is SO much better.
Recently, I asked my children what they thought if I stopped taking family classes with them. I got a resounding " NO!". That's the best reason to take this class. - by Penny Rynar
Family is important at US Taekwondo Center. This is a great way to gain the benefits of Taekwondo for your entire Family in a single class. These days families are busy. Taekwondo is one activity that the family can do together. Families will attain togetherness and have a mutual understanding.
Family classes are for children accompanied by parent(s). Family classes are offered on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Parents pay just half the price of the regular rates when they have a child that is a member of US Taekwondo Center. For more information, please click on the Contact Us Link.
