Koryo Form for 1st Black Belt

Koryo was the ruling dynasty of Korea from 918 to 1392 CE. Western contact with the nation was first made during this dynasty, and thus the name “Korea” is used for the nation in English. The Korean name for the nation is Hanguk.
The pattern of this poom se is a capital I; there are forty-five movements.

From parallel ready stance:

Koryo joon-bi
Remaining in the same position, move the left foot to the right and bring both hands together in front of the tungen point, then rise slowly onto the balls of the feet and slowly raise the hands until they are in front of the face. Adjusting the left foot, step out into a parallel ready stance position once again while slowly extending the hands to form a twin forward vertical knife block, breathing in a controlled manner.

Base line
Turn 90° left to form a right back stance while executing a reverse middle knife-hand guarding block.

Execute a right leg low side kick and, remaining in the same position, execute a right leg middle side kick.

Return the right leg from the recoiled kick and advance it to form a right front stance while executing an obverse neck chop.

Remaining in the same stance, execute a reverse middle punch.

Remaining in the same position, adjust the right foot to form a left back stance while executing a reverse inside middle block.

Turn 180° right to form a left back stance while executing a reverse middle knife-hand guarding block.

Execute a left leg low side kick and, remaining in the same position, execute a left leg middle side kick.

Return the left leg from the recoiled kick and advance it to form a left front stance while executing an obverse neck chop.

Remaining in the same position, rise up onto the balls of the feet while raising the hands above the head, then separate the hands in a breaking motion and slowly rotate them in a circular motion, while slowly descending from the balls of the feet and reconnecting the hands at the tungen point.

Remaining in the same position, execute an obverse low knife-hand block.

Advance to form a right front stance while executing an obverse neck strike.

Advance to form a right front stance while executing an obverse throat strike with a kiap.
